DVR

How It Works

A cable DVR records TV shows to a specially designed “hard disk” similar to those used in personal computers. The advantage of this sort of storage over videotape has to do with capacity and control. Not only do cable DVRs store hours and hours of television, they make it much easier to identify what programs you want to record, and they store all the programs you’ve recorded in one easily accessible place. Just find your recorded show from your DVR on-screen menu, press “play” and enjoy!

That’s not all. Cable DVRs also allow you to pause a live program while you answer the phone, replay a scene that you want to watch again, or fast-forward to exactly the place in your program you want. Just point your remote and click.
